Kira Garvie Conner

Wilmington-based organist and pianist Kira Garvie Conner grew up in a small farming hamlet in the beautiful Hudson Valley of upstate New York. She earned her undergraduate degree in organ performance from Boston University, where she sang with the Marsh Chapel Choir and regularly performed continuo with the Boston University Baroque Chamber Ensembles.

After graduating from Boston University, she moved to Bloomington, Indiana, where she completed a master’s degree in organ and sacred music and a performer’s diploma in organ performance at Indiana University, studying with Janette Fishell and Christopher Young. While in Bloomington, Kira also served as Music Director and Organist at First Presbyterian Church of Martinsville, Indiana.

Following her studies at Indiana University, she moved to Atlanta to work as Organ Scholar at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. Since relocating to Wilmington, she has been a regular substitute organist and pianist for many churches and choirs in Wilmington and Hampstead, and she often sings at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. She currently serves as Dean of the Wilmington Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.

When not making music, Kira enjoys knitting, crocheting, and exploring local parks and hiking trails.
